Foreo Luna 4 Body Massager Review
The Foreo Luna 4 is the most precise home lymphatic drainage tool available. The T-Sonic pulsation technology matches professional massage frequency more closely than anything else in its category.
Medical disclaimer: Talk to your doctor before using lymphatic massage if you have any health conditions.
Quick verdict
If you have chronic swelling, are recovering from surgery, or simply want the most professional at-home experience possible, the Foreo Luna 4 earns its $229 price. For everyone else, the COMFY wand delivers 80% of the benefit at 17% of the cost.
What T-Sonic pulsation actually is
T-Sonic is Foreo's name for their transdermal sonic pulsation technology. The device delivers rapid, low-amplitude pulsations: essentially very fast, very light taps: at a frequency designed to penetrate the superficial tissue layer where lymph capillaries sit.
The difference between T-Sonic and standard vibration is in the wave pattern. Standard vibration moves the device head back and forth uniformly. T-Sonic produces a more controlled pulsation pattern that mimics the rhythmic pressure of trained hands.
At intensity level 3 out of 16, the Luna 4 delivers a pulsation that closely matches the 20-40g pressure range of manual lymphatic drainage. The lower levels are so light they feel like a gentle pulse. The higher levels move into deep-tissue territory, which you do not need for lymphatic work.
16 intensity levels: how many do you actually use?
For lymphatic drainage, we stayed between levels 2 and 5 exclusively. The precision of having 16 levels means the difference between level 2 and level 3 is very small: you can dial in exactly the right feeling for each body area.
Levels above 8 are useful for body massage and deep muscle work, which the Luna 4 also does well. But those modes are outside the scope of lymphatic drainage. The high-level settings are not what makes this device worth the price for lymphatic users.
Waterproof and battery life
The Luna 4 is fully waterproof for shower and bath use. The silicone body survives soap and shampoo without degradation. Battery life is excellent: Foreo claims up to 650 uses per charge on a single USB charge. In practice, we charged it once over a six-week test period.
The device charges via USB-C. The port is sealed with a tight silicone cover that keeps water out. No issues with water ingress in our test period.
Who it is for and who it is not
Worth buying if: you have chronic lymphedema, post-surgical swelling, or a strong daily wellness routine. Also worth it if you are the type of person who buys a piece of equipment and uses it every day for years. The Luna 4 will outlast any other device in this comparison.
Not worth buying if: you are new to lymphatic massage and not sure you will stick with a routine. Try the COMFY wand first for three months. If you are consistent, then consider upgrading.
